DISTRICT COMMITTEE MANUAL
Mission:
RYLA 5470's mission is to encourage and support the recognition, training, and mentoring of youth leaders by Rotary Clubs in District 5470.
Objectives:
- To empower clubs involvement in recognizing and rewarding youth leaders in their community.
- Provide a centralized leadership training retreat weekend youth identified by clubs to teach leadership skills based on Rotary values of fellowship, high ethical standards, the ideal of service, and the promotion of international understanding and goodwill.
- Facilitate fellowship between Rotarians and youth leader, and youth leader with each other, in the promotion of Rotary values.
- Train and facilitate club level Rotarians to provide year long mentoring and support of RYLA 5470 youth leader participants.
Goals:
- Establish a solid organizational and business structure for a RYLA 5470; Incorporated 501c3 Status, Accountable reporting and budgeting standards, and Diverse and sustainable district committee
- Develop a solid curriculum for a leadership retreat weekend based on Rotary values, including: Self-awareness, Interpersonal skills development, Team-building and organizational skills, Ethical decision making and overcoming leadership challenges, and Personal leadership goal setting
- Develop a clear and simple manual for club level involvement in RYLA 5470, including: Funding the scholarship awards, Identifying and selecting recipients, Pre-retreat and retreat weekend involvement, and Post-retreat follow-up involvement
- Use technology to organize and operate the program and facilitate clear and simple communications and accountability between district leaders, club level RYLA chairs, and youth participants.

- Jan 15 : Website registration up and running
- Jan 30 : RYLA Meeting at Quad Foundation
- Jan 15 : Retreat Curriculum/Schedule Finalized
- Jan 30 : Club selection guileless finalized
- Feb 28 : 50 applicants committed
- Mar 31 : Applicants Fees Paid
- Mar 31 : 75 applicants committed
- Apr 1-30 : Club Level training at DLSs
- Apr 15 : 100 applicants committed
- May 15 : Participants Identified
